Bankrut Beach

Bankrut Beach

Ban Krut beach is located in Tambol Thongchai, Bang Saphan district, Prachuap Kiri Khan province. The beach still maintains its natural surroundings since it is not yet well-known to general tourists like other nearby tourist destination such as Hua Hin or Cha-Um beaches.

Only 382 km. from Bangkok, or 150 km. from Hua Hin, your weariness from the few hours journey will melt away with the sight of panoramic golden beach, blue sky, clear water, and the calmness of Ban Krut beach.

The beauty of peaceful nature along with the amicable character of local people are the charm that bring visitors back to Ban Krut once they have visited.

For generations, livelihoods of Ban Krut villagers depend on local natural resources both onshore and in the sea. Most people here are fisherfolks who catch fish, clam, squid, cuttlefish, and crabs depending on seasons of the sea.  Many people in this area also maintain coconut farms. Coconuts from this area are famous for its quality; foods and Thai desserts cooked with these coconuts are very flavourful.

The morning market near Ban Krut train station is where visitors can enjoy rhythms of local lives. The way of life here reflects prosperity of local resources; displayed natural and cultivated products from land and sea. Food not only for the eyes!

Fresh mackerels and varieties of native fish, shrimp, prawn. Crabs (alive!) from the sea you can see. Fresh cuttlefish, alive and glitter under the sun. Various kinds of vegetables and produces from local farms and cooked local cuisines are waiting to be explored. Last but not least, various Thai desserts usually wrapped in banana leaves are hard to resist!

Many of our visitors, both Thai and foreigners, fall in love with Ban Krut and keep returning here for the beach, sea, and the friendliness and sincerity of the locals. Some even call this place their “secret beach”. A prominent Thai marine scientist also ranks Ban Krut as one of his “Top 5 beaches in his heart.

For years, Ban Krut has become more eminent for its characteristic way of tourism which integrates well with the local livelihoods. One main reason why Ban Krut is still able to preserve its abundant natural resources is because local communities have realised values of our resources. Ban Krut communities are determined to protect our resources and nature for future generations; thus they have been opposing plan to build coal fired power plants in the community for over 10 years and finally received victory when the plan was canceled.
